Job summary

Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia, LA is hiring a Medical Lab Technician (Floater - North & Main Campus). The role requires an Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, ASCP or AMT MLT certification, and an active LSBME license.

You will perform both manual and automated testing across multiple lab sections with adherence to QA/QC and LIS usage. Full-time position with opportunities to learn and grow, contributing to patient care and community health.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology required; Bachelors degree preferred.
• Certification as Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP or AMT.
• Current license as a Clinical Laboratory Technician with the LSBME.
• 6 months clinical training through an approved MLT training hospital or prior MLT experience.
• Working knowledge of testing in waived, moderate, and high complexity across chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology, blood bank, immunology; analytical computer skills and LIS knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Maintain skills in manual and automated testing of moderate and high complexity in all lab sections.
• Follow QC and QA protocols; proficient in using the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Abide by regulatory requirements including CAP, TJC, CMS, and OIG lab compliance.
• Participate in proficiency testing.

Education, Skills, and Experience:

• Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology is required, a Bachelors degree is preferred;
• Certification as Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP or AMT;
• Current license as a Clinical Laboratory Technician with the LSBME;
• 6 months Clinical training through an approved MLT training hospital or previous MLT experience;

• Analytical computer skills and knowledge of laboratory workflow.
