Job summary

Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia, LA is seeking a Lab Supervisor to lead our North Campus laboratory operations. The role emphasizes independent judgment, adherence to regulatory requirements, and proficiency with the Laboratory Information System.

Ideal applicants hold a B.S. in Medical Technology or related field, ASCP/NCA certification, and a CLS-Generalist license; with internship and 2 years’ experience as a Medical Technologist. We offer competitive benefits and opportunities to advance.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Medical Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or Biological Science required.
• Certification as Medical Technologist by ASCP or NCA required.
• Current license as Clinical Laboratory Scientist – Generalist with the LSBME required.
• 12 months internship through a School of Medical Technology or prior MLT training required.
• Minimum 2 years experience as a Medical Technologist required.

Responsibilities

• Apply principles of clinical laboratory science to produce reliable results to aid diagnosis and treatment.
• Work efficiently, unsupervised, and exercise independent judgment.
• Maintain skills in manual and automated testing across all laboratory sections.
• Proficient in using the Laboratory Information System and abide by regulatory requirements.

IMC is currently hiring aLab Supervisor, for our North Campus location. The Lab Supervisor isresponsible for professional application of the principles, theories, andtechniques of clinical laboratory science necessary to produce reliable resultsto aid the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of patients and maintainingskills in manual and automated testing of moderate and high complexity in allsections of the laboratory. The labsupervisor must work efficiently, unsupervised, and is expected to exerciseindependent judgment; is responsible for computer skills, proficiency in usingthe Laboratory Information System, and for abiding by all regulatoryrequirements.

EDUCATION

• B.S. degree in MedicalTechnology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or Biological Science

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE /LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

• Certification as Medical Technologist by ASCP or NCA.
• Current license as a ClinicalLaboratory Scientist –Generalist with the LSBME
