Job summary

Ardent Health Services in Tulsa, OK is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our day shift as a full-time team member. The MLS will perform routine and specialized laboratory testing that informs patient care and diagnosis, using standard quality controls and reliable processes.

The role requires a Baccalaureate or Associate Degree in Medical Technology or a related field, ASCP or equivalent certification, and prior clinical laboratory experience.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science.
• ASCP or equivalent certification required; certification must be maintained.
• Previous clinical laboratory experience as MLS/MLT or related role preferred.
• Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and special laboratory procedures and quality control.
• Maintain instruments, perform preventative maintenance and inventory control.
• Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, laboratory education, and proficiency testing as assigned.

• The Medical Lab Scientist functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for the performance of clinical laboratory testing that pertains to patient care and diagnosis.
• This position performs routine and special laboratory procedures, quality control, preventative maintenance, minor equipment repairs, inventory control, and statistical compilation.
• Will additionally participates in quality assurance, performance improvement, laboratory education, new employee training, and proficiency testing when assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Baccalaureate or Associate Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical or biological science.
• ASCP or equivalent.
  • Certification within a specific area, i.e. M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP) qualifies.
  • Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment.
    • If certification does lapse, job will be downgraded to Medical Laboratory Scientist (non-certified) until certification is reinstated.
• Previous clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Scientist within a clinical laboratory.
• Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles.
