Job summary

Hillcrest Medical Center is seeking an evening shift, full-time Medical Laboratory Scientist in Tulsa, OK. The position involves performing routine and specialized laboratory procedures and ensuring accuracy in patient care diagnostics.

The role requires an appropriate degree, ASCP or equivalent certification, and prior clinical laboratory experience. Candidates must maintain certification and contribute to quality assurance and ongoing education as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or associate degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science or related science.
• ASCP or equivalent certification; certification maintained without lapse.
• Prior clinical laboratory experience in a Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technology, CLS or MLS role.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized laboratory procedures with accuracy.
• Conduct quality control and preventative maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain inventory and assist with proficiency testing and education as assigned.

• The Medical Lab Scientist functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for the performance of clinical laboratory testing that pertains to patient care and diagnosis.
• This position performs routine and special laboratory procedures, quality control, preventative maintenance, minor equipment repairs, inventory control, and statistical compilation.
• Will additionally participates in quality assurance, performance improvement, laboratory education, new employee training, and proficiency testing when assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Baccalaureate or Associate Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical or biological science.
• ASCP or equivalent.
  • Certification within a specific area, i.e. M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP) qualifies.
  • Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment.
    • If certification does lapse, job will be downgraded to Medical Laboratory Scientist (non-certified) until certification is reinstated.
• Previous clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Scientist within a clinical laboratory.
• Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles.
