Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA.
• Strong scientific foundation and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to perform and interpret a wide range of lab procedures across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Performs and reports waived, moderately complex, and highly complex test procedures on patient specimens adhering to SOPs to ensure accuracy and timely reporting.
• Provides clinical correlation of results, rapid notification of caregivers of critical values, and testing within turn-around-time limits.
• Ensures major automated equipment is operational by maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting; contacts vendor for assistance or repair.
• Performs calibration and quality control procedures and maintains records to ensure tests stay within parameters.
• Participates in proficiency testing and reviews results with laboratory leaders.
• Assists in evaluation and validation of new procedures and equipment to provide up-to-date laboratory technology to physicians.
