Job summary

Metabolon, Inc. is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist to join the Sample Preparation group within the Global Metabolomic Services team in Morrisville, NC.

The role reports to the Supervisor of Sample Preparation and will handle manual and automated sample processing in a regulated environment. The successful candidate will help improve procedures, maintain data quality in LIMS, and mentor junior scientists while collaborating with other lab teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a physical, biological, or related science.
• 2–4 years of experience in clinical testing, regulated laboratory, or high-throughput laboratory environment.
• Experience applying technical knowledge to independently plan and execute complex laboratory activities.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform sample measurements, including pipetting and weighing of biological samples.
• Prepare solutions and standards for instrument operations.
• Operate laboratory instruments and perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and system performance checks.
• Develop ability to diagnose instrument problems and perform basic maintenance or arrange external repair.
• Oversee data collection for samples and review data to ensure data quality standards are met.
• Document work in LIMS and provide daily QC performance reports.
• Assist with QC performance review and final report analysis.
• Contribute to SOP revisions and continuous improvement programs.
• After training, perform tasks with little instruction and take on new assignments with general guidance.
• Support company goals and collaborate with team members.
• Provide mentorship to junior scientists in basic tasks and protocols.
• Aim to broaden knowledge beyond core competencies.
