Job summary

Texas Health Kaufman is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join the Laboratory Department. You will maintain specimen integrity, guide lab staff, and uphold quality controls in a busy clinical setting.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Medical Technology or related field with MT/MLS certifications and relevant internships; state licenses are required or pending, with microbio certification helpful for Microbiology work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related science; grandfathering rule for CLS II hires before 2010.
• Internship in an approved Medical Technology training program is required.
• 2 years of medical laboratory experience preferred.
• MT(ASCP) or MLS(ASCP) certification/ six months licensing required (or equivalent).
• Other relevant licenses (AMT, AAB, HHS, NCA, HEW, CLS-CA, FL, NY) six months required.
• Microbiology certification (M(ASCP)) if working in Microbiology required (six months).

Responsibilities

• Maintains specimen integrity throughout testing.
• Demonstrates cost-effective laboratory practices.
• Participates in orientation and training of students, volunteers, and new staff.
• Adhere to the THR Promise Behaviors.
• Gives direction and guidance to technical staff and lab support personnel.
• Demonstrates understanding of quality control guidelines.
