Job summary

Duke Health’s Heritage Clinical Lab is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist to join a state-of-the-art team. The role involves performing routine and complex tests, ensuring accuracy, and supporting regulatory compliance across offsite labs as needed.

ASCP or AMT certification is strongly preferred, with responsibilities including instrument calibration, quality control, and collaboration with senior staff to maintain high standards of patient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science; or Medical Technology required.
• ASCP or AMT certification strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of routine and complex laboratory tests to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment.
• Operate manual or computerized instrumentation and calibrate instruments as required.
• Process patient samples with proper identification and QA/QC practices.
• Participate in lab inspections and proficiency testing to maintain regulatory compliance.
• Maintain inventory and document quality control results.
