Nova Scotia Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our Pathology and Laboratory Medicine team. The MLA will perform pre- and post-analytical tasks including specimen handling, data entry, and preparation of media and reagents.

The role emphasizes accuracy, patient safety, and adherence to infection control protocols. Ideal candidates hold an MLA program credential, CSMLS/CAMPLR registration, and NSRMLS licensure.

Qualifications

• Recognized MLA program or equivalent and CSMLS/CAMPLR registration.
• Nova Scotia licensure with NSRMLS is required.
• Strong communication, attention to detail and accuracy are essential.
• Basic computer skills; Meditech experience preferred.
• French language is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Procure, receive and process specimens; data entry and labeling.
• Prepare media, reagents and smears; sterilization and clerical duties.
• Load specimens on analyzers; assist with supply management and troubleshooting.
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain safety and infection control.
