Job summary

MaineHealth's NorDx Laboratory is seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Assistant II to join the Laboratory Support team in Scarborough, Maine. In this on-site role, you will perform pre-analytical functions such as specimen collection, phlebotomy, specimen processing, order entry, waived testing, and quality control, and may assist with specialty collection.

A $5,000 sign-on bonus is available for eligible applicants.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• PBT/MLA from ASCP, AMT, or NHA preferred; valid driver's license may be required if travel to other sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-analytical functions including specimen collection and phlebotomy.
• Process specimens and assist with specialty testing and waived testing.
• Enter orders, maintain quality control, and support specialty collection as needed.

Summary

Experienced, qualified applicants are eligible for a $5,000 Sign‑on Bonus. This bonus will be prorated for Part Time or Per Diem positions. Please note this bonus is not available to current MaineHealth employees or prior employees that have been separated for less than 6 months.

The Medical Laboratory Assistant II role represents the organization in all patient settings serving as a liaison and performs key pre‑analytical functions, such as specimen collection phlebotomy, specimen processing, specialty testing, order entry, waived testing, quality control, and specialty collection.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

1. Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
2. License/Certifications: PBT/MLA from the ASCP, AMT, or NHA preferred. Valid Driver's License may be required if role involves travel to other work sites/locations.
3. Experience: One year of experience in Phlebotomy and Specimen Management required.
4. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: May be asked to work at other sites/locations as needed.
