Position Summary:# The Processing Technician is a self-motivator. The person must have compassion for patients and be able to represent the hospital mission. The person collects and prepares specimens for the clinical laboratory and has a clear understanding of patient identification and specimen integrity. Tasks include evaluating specimens received, performing pre-analytical quality validation, entering test orders into information systems, preparing specimens for testing, expediting samples to the testing sections, preparing specimens for transport to reference laboratories, and effectively communicating with internal and external clients. The person must be able to perform a variety of routine, quality control, and specialized laboratory tasks under the direct supervision of a Clinical Scientist. The person performs inoculation of cultures, preparation of test devices and waived testing. Must be reliable and demonstrate good customer service and computer skills. Performs phlebotomy as needed.
