Job summary

Aurora Health Care in Milwaukee oversees system-wide language services to support patient access across Advocate Health facilities in North Wisconsin. This leadership role directs interpreters, ensuring compliant, high-quality interpretation for patients, families and clinicians.

The manager leads strategic planning, budget oversight, staff development and quality initiatives, collaborating with management to advance LEP and deaf/hard of hearing services across the health system.

Qualifications

• Typically requires 5 years of experience in a medical environment performing medical verbal and written interpretation and translation, leading and prioritizing staff work, and acting as a resource to staff on complex cases.
• Includes 1 year of supervisory experience in a medical environment.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and accountability for the development and implementation of system-wide translation and interpretation systems.
• Participates in strategic planning related to the provision of language services throughout system.
• Provides leadership and accountability for quality monitoring and improvement initiatives related to provision of translation and interpretation services.
• Establishes and maintains relationships with management, staff and medical staff to support LEP and deaf/hard of hearing patients.
• Designs activities to promote Translation and Interpretation Services within the health system.
• Develops capital and operating budgets with the director and monitors variances.
• Manages employees, conducts training, and handles personnel actions per policies.
• Participates in safety initiatives and completes required competencies.
