Job summary

UC San Diego Health seeks an Interpreter Services Manager based in Hillcrest, with travel to La Jolla and East Campus as needed. You will oversee daily operations of the Department of Interpreter Services, ensuring top-tier language access for LEP patients and compliance with laws and Joint Commission standards.

You will supervise interpreters, mentor staff, track metrics, and collaborate with leaders across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related area plus five years of related experience/training or nine years of related experience/education/training.
• Certification from a medical interpreter program such as CCHI or NBCMI.
• Solid subject matter knowledge of medical interpretation and translation services.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily operations of interpreters and department coordinators.
• Review processes and implement improvement plans.
• Track program metrics and report updates to leadership.
• Engage with stakeholders across the organization and mentor staff.
• Coach and develop direct reports; monitor vendor performance.
• Perform medical interpretation and translation as needed.
