Job summary

CWS is seeking a professional interpreter to provide accurate medical interpretation across clinical settings. The role focuses on consecutive and simultaneous interpretation between English and the target language, maintaining confidentiality and high ethical standards.

The interpreter will assist with patient intake, scheduling logistics, and coordination with healthcare providers, ensuring clear communication and culturally responsive service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• 40-hour medical interpreter training that adheres to ethics; Bridging the Gap preferred.
• Valid English proficiency certificate and target language proficiency; language test may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide consecutive and simultaneous interpretation between English and the target language in medical, behavioral health, and community healthcare settings.
• Convey the full meaning, tone, and intent of each message accurately and completely.
• Uphold HIPAA and organizational confidentiality standards.
• Perform sight translation of written documents for hospital signings.
• Identify and address linguistic or cultural barriers impacting understanding.
• Advise program management on issues affecting interpretation delivery and client satisfaction.
• Assist clients before medical appointments with forms and histories.
• Confirm appointment details and assist with scheduling logistics.
• Communicate effectively with health providers and staff to resolve barriers.
