MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center is seeking a Department Support Assistant – Medical Imaging to provide essential administrative support in a fast-paced environment. This role assists with patient check‑in, chart handling, and liaison activities across departments within MercyOne Central Iowa.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred or high school equivalency.
• Typing ability and basic computer skills.
• One‑year administrative experience preferred.
• Medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates PC, fax machine, copy machine and other office equipment as necessary.
• Demonstrates proper phone etiquette and data entry.
• Checks surgery and imaging records for completeness and follows up with appropriate personnel to ensure records are completed.
• Collects and sticks patient charts.
• Greets patient/visitors, checks in each patient, and announces their arrival to appropriate area(s).
• Acts as a liaison for patients and their families in the waiting room.
• Communicates appropriately with staff, physicians, and other departments with the ability to prioritize in a hectic environment.
