Are you mechanically inclined with a knack for hands-on work? Do you enjoy a flexible schedule and working independently, but also have the support of a team? The Equipment Service Technician is a remote-based, customer-facing employee, primarily working inside hospitals. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing medical equipment used in surgical procedures, as well as providing installation support on complex mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic units. This is STERIS's main line of OEM equipment (Washers and Sterilizers), our largest equipment portfolio, and the foundation of our company. Come advance your career with us in this role!

Individuals with experience in HVAC repair, mechanics, maintenance, refrigeration, boilers, chillers, equipment repair, diesel and automotive repair, aviation repair, plumbing, electrical, etc., are often successful.

This is a remote, customer-facing position. To support and service our customers in this territory, candidates must be based in Ohio.

What you'll do as an Equipment Service Technician:

1. Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of STERIS and competitor equipment, systems, and components.
2. Manage time effectively by prioritizing customer and business needs independently to complete PMs, service calls, warranty calls, equipment installations, and upgrades.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Tech Support, Engineering, Service Contract Management) to escalate issues and utilize technology platforms for compliance and documentation.
4. Provide customers with information, pricing, and repair options. Build relationships with sales to enhance customer experience and identify sales opportunities.
5. Support various locations within the territory based on service agreements and customer needs.

Requirements and Skills:

• High School Diploma or GED with 4+ years of relevant work experience; 2 years in a mechanical/technical role. Certifications or military experience may be considered.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet background and physical assessments for vendor credentialing.
• Customer and team engagement skills.
• Effective communication skills (written and verbal).
• Basic computer skills (MS Windows, email, mobile apps, data entry).
• Flexibility for schedules with potential overnight, early, or late hours.
• Ability to meet hospital/customer credentialing requirements.
