Job Description: Equipment Service Technician

Are you mechanically inclined with a knack for hands-on work? Do you enjoy a flexible schedule and working independently, but also have the support of a team? The Equipment Service Technician is a remote-based, customer-facing role, primarily working inside hospitals. You will troubleshoot and repair medical equipment used in surgical procedures, and provide installation support on complex mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic units. This equipment portfolio includes washers and sterilizers, which are core to our company's foundation.

Individuals with experience in HVAC repair, mechanics, maintenance, refrigeration, boilers, chillers, equipment repair, diesel and automotive repair, aviation repair, plumbing, or electrical work are often successful in this role.

This is a remote, customer-facing position. Candidates must be based in Ohio to support and service our customers in this territory.

Responsibilities:

• Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of STERIS and competitor equipment, systems, and components.
• Manage time effectively by prioritizing customer and business needs to complete preventive maintenance, service calls, warranty calls, equipment installations, and upgrades.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Tech Support, Engineering, Service Contract Management) to escalate issues and utilize technology platforms for compliance and troubleshooting documentation.
• Provide customers with information, pricing, and repair options; build relationships with sales to enhance customer experience and identify sales opportunities.
• Support various locations within the assigned territory based on service agreements and customer needs.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED with 4+ years of work experience, including at least 2 years in a mechanical/technical role. Relevant certifications, military experience, or an associate's degree may be considered.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet background and physical assessments for credentialing.
• Customer service and team engagement experience.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Basic computer skills, including MS Windows, email, mobile apps, and data entry.
• Flexibility to work early/late hours and overnight shifts as needed.
• Ability to meet hospital and customer credentialing requirements.
