Exciting opportunity for a Medical Director of Mechanical Circulatory Support / Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist to join our growing team!

Lee Health Heart Institute is seeking an experienced Medical Director of Mechanical Circulatory Support to join the Advanced Heart Failure Center in Fort Myers, Florida. The Medical Director will lead the development and expansion of device therapy and coordinate inpatient and outpatient care for recipients of left-ventricular assist devices.

Lee Health Heart Institute has an established cardiothoracic surgical service performing 1,300 open heart surgeries and 3,700 cath procedures annually, serving 4,000 patients with acute heart failure. The Heart Park Medical Center is the hub for the Cardiogenic Shock Program, offering surgical Impella and ECMO treatments, and is part of a large hospital system with 1,890 beds. The AHF program collaborates with regional heart transplant centers for cardiac replacement therapies.

Administrative Responsibilities:

• Oversee the MCS program, including patient selection, pre- and post-operative care.
• Lead multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Stay updated on advancements in MCS technology.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and program quality improvement.

Qualified Candidates Should Be:

• BC/BE by ABIM in Advanced Heart Failure/Transplant.
• Completed an ACGME-accredited heart failure fellowship.
• Proficient in managing LVAD, heart transplant, and short-term devices like Impella and ECMO.
• Preferably with over 5 years post-fellowship experience; recent graduates are welcome.
• Enthusiastic about working in a high-volume practice with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Effective communicators to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong clinical reputation and leadership skills to grow the program with a focus on quality care.
• Optional: Ability to perform right heart catheterizations, biopsies, and Cardiomems.
