Job summary

Lee Health in Southwest Florida is seeking a Medical Director for the Comprehensive Obesity Program to provide clinical leadership, oversee weight management, lifestyle medicine, anti-obesity pharmacotherapy, and coordination with bariatric services. The role emphasizes clinical care and program oversight for a growing obesity medicine initiative.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Endocrinology.
• Active Florida medical license (or eligibility).
• Minimum of two years of experience treating obesity and obesity-related conditions.
• Leadership, administrative, or program development experience preferred.
• American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM) certification strongly preferred.
• Experience with value-based care, healthcare administration, utilization management, and multidisciplinary care models.

Responsibilities

• Clinical care while opening the first clinic and triaging patients into different pathways.
• Coordinate referrals, interpret data, set benchmarks, and drive program improvement.
• Collaborate with pharmacy and educators on anti-obesity medications, including GLP-1 therapies.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team of physicians, APPs, pharmacists, dietitians, behavioral health staff, and support staff.
• Involve provider recruitment, education, mentorship, and quality-improvement initiatives to grow the program.
