Job summary

Frontier Direct hires a Medical Director (MD/DO) to lead compassionate patient care across clinics in Texas. You'll mentor clinicians, oversee operations, and work with senior leadership to optimize workflows and ensure high standards of care.

The role requires board certification in Family Medicine, Texas license, and strong leadership experience. Expect collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer and a commitment to patient-first care and regulatory excellence.

Qualifications

• MD/DO from an accredited institution.
• Active, unrestricted Texas medical license.
• Board certification in Family Medicine.
• 3–5 years in a family practice/primary care setting.
• Active DEA registration or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Demonstrated leadership experience mentoring a team or managing a clinic.
• Working knowledge of healthcare compliance, patient safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Passion for relationship-based care and leading by example.

Responsibilities

• Lead with compassion, guiding clinical teams to deliver comprehensive, unrushed care to Frontier members.
• Provide clinical oversight, coaching, and ongoing training to APPs and the nurse manager.
• Collaborate with a Lead PCP to manage a split patient panel ensuring continuity and quality of care.
• Hire and retain providers who share our commitment to integrity and patient-first care.
• Work with the Chief Medical Officer to optimize workflows and build a sustainable care model.
• Oversee daily clinic operations including budget, inventory, and staff coordination.
• Lead weekly meetings to promote open dialogue, innovation and problem-solving.
• Ensure care delivery complies with all state/federal regs and internal standards.

What You’ll Do

Requirements

What You Bring

• MD or DO from an accredited institution
• Active and unrestricted medical license to practice in Texas
• Board certification in Family Medicine
• 3-5 years of experience in a family practice or primary care setting
• Active DEA registration, or ability to obtain within 30 days
• Demonstrated leadership experience—whether mentoring a small team or managing a clinic
• A working knowledge of healthcare compliance, patient safety, and regulatory requirements
• A genuine passion for relationship-based care and a desire to lead by example
