Job summary

Frontier Direct Care is expanding its direct primary care clinics in Texas and seeking a Medical Director (MD/DO). The role leads compassionate, patient-first care, provides clinical oversight to providers, and partners with the CMO to refine workflows and build a sustainable care model across multiple Texan locations.

You will oversee clinic operations, mentor staff, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive quality improvements while shaping a thriving team culture and service excellence.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited institution.
• Active and unrestricted Texas medical license.
• Board certification in Family Medicine.
• 3–5 years of experience in family practice/primary care.
• Active DEA registration.
• Leadership experience—mentoring/clinic management.
• Knowledge of healthcare compliance and patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Lead clinical teams to deliver comprehensive, unrushed care for Frontier members.
• Provide clinical oversight, coaching, and training to advanced providers and nurse manager.
• Manage a split patient panel with a Lead PCP to ensure continuity and quality of care.
• Hire and retain providers aligned with our patient-first values.
• Collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer to refine workflows and build a sustainable care model.
• Oversee daily clinic operations including budget, inventory, and staff coordination.
• Lead weekly team meetings to foster open dialogue and problem-solving.
• Ensure care delivery complies with state/federal regulations and internal standards.
• Drive quality improvement initiatives across clinics.

What You’ll Do

• Lead with compassion: Guide and support clinical teams in delivering comprehensive, unrushed care to Frontier members.
• Mentor and support: Provide clinical oversight, coaching, and ongoing training to advanced practice providers and the nurse manager.

• Maintain high standards: Ensure that all care is delivered in accordance with state and federal compliance, safety regulations, and our internal standards of excellence.
• Drive improvement: Provide quarterly feedback to your team and support ongoing initiatives to strengthen the quality of care and team experience.

Requirements

• MD or DO from an accredited institution
• Active and unrestricted medical license to practice in Texas
• Board certification in Family Medicine
• 3-5 years of experience in a family practice or primary care setting
• Active DEA registration
• Demonstrated leadership experience—whether mentoring a small team or managing a clinic
• A working knowledge of healthcare compliance, patient safety, and regulatory requirements
• A genuine passion for relationship-based care and a desire to lead by example
