Job summary

Frontier Direct Care is seeking a Medical Director (MD/DO) to lead clinical teams and uphold a patient-first care model in Texas. You will provide clinical oversight, mentor providers, collaborate with the Lead PCP, and shape workflows with the CMO to deliver high-quality, compliant care.

You will also oversee daily clinic operations, budget, inventory, and staff coordination while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence across Frontier locations.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited institution.
• Active and unrestricted Texas medical license.
• Board certification in Family Medicine.
• 3–5 years of experience in family practice or primary care.
• Active DEA registration or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Demonstrated leadership experience—mentoring or managing a clinic.
• Knowledge of healthcare compliance and patient safety regulations.
• Passion for relationship-based care and leading by example.

Responsibilities

• Lead clinical teams to deliver comprehensive, unrushed care.
• Provide oversight, coaching, and training to APPs and the nurse manager.
• Collaborate with a Lead PCP to ensure continuity and quality of care.
• Hire and retain providers aligned with patient-first care.
• Work with the Chief Medical Officer and leadership to optimize workflows and build a sustainable care model.
• Oversee daily clinic operations including budget, inventory, and staff coordination.
• Lead weekly team meetings to promote open dialogue and problem-solving.
• Ensure care complies with state/federal regulations and internal standards.
• Provide quarterly feedback to the team to drive improvement.

What You’ll Do

• Lead with compassion: Guide and support clinical teams in delivering comprehensive, unrushed care to Frontier members.
• Mentor and support: Provide clinical oversight, coaching, and ongoing training to advanced practice providers and the nurse manager.
• Collaborate with care: Manage a split patient panel alongside a Lead PCP, ensuring continuity and quality of care.

• Shape the practice: Work closely with the Chief Medical Officer and leadership team to fine-tune workflows and build a thriving, sustainable care model.
• Oversee operations: Manage the daily needs of your clinic location, including budget, inventory, and staff coordination.
• Foster a connected culture: Lead weekly team meetings that encourage open dialogue, innovation, and shared problem-solving.
• Maintain high standards: Ensure that all care is delivered in accordance with state and federal compliance, safety regulations, and our internal standards of excellence.
• Drive improvement: Provide quarterly feedback to your team and support ongoing initiatives to strengthen the quality of care and team experience.

Requirements

What You Bring

• MD or DO from an accredited institution
• Active and unrestricted medical license to practice in Texas
• Board certification in Family Medicine
• 3-5 years of experience in a family practice or primary care setting
• Active DEA registration, or ability to obtain within 30 days
• Demonstrated leadership experience—whether mentoring a small team or managing a clinic
• A working knowledge of healthcare compliance, patient safety, and regulatory requirements
• A genuine passion for relationship-based care and a desire to lead by example
