You contribute to our success. Every role impacts our patients’ lives, and you have the opportunity to make a difference. We are seeking a dedicated Paramedic EMS Med Control Specialist to join our team.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with EMS/first responders, hospitals, and the community for transports and referrals to Medical City Plano. Collaborate with the MCP EMS team to ensure proper actions and resolutions for provider, referral source, and patient issues.

What you will do in this role:

  • Answer all incoming EMS calls and coordinate with the ED Charge Nurse for room assignments to ensure smooth patient care transitions from EMS to ED.
  • Call reports to outside hospitals promptly for agencies not arriving at MCP.
  • Activate trauma, stroke, and STEMI teams as per patient reports.
  • Coordinate with security regarding incoming aircraft and landing zone needs.
  • Relay helipad status to incoming aircraft.
  • Monitor and update MCP EMSystems status as needed.
  • Use RAC initiatives for communication/data management during multiple casualty incidents.
  • Assist EMS personnel with equipment, lounge supplies, and other issues.
  • Obtain and track EMS run sheets, statistics, and data reconciliation.
  • Follow up with EMS providers on high-acuity patients before shift end.
  • Maintain knowledge of protocols under EMS Medical Control.
  • Participate in shift huddles with ED staff.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Technical or Vocational training.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P) certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in pre-hospital and hospital emergency medical services, with strong knowledge of EMS radio operations preferred.
