iMedX, a Rapid Care Group company, is hiring a Behavioral Health Medical Coder for a remote, part-time role. The coder will accurately abstract clinical data and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes per Official Guidelines and iMedX standards.

Experience with NetSmart My Avatar and behavioral health payers is highly preferred. The role reports to the Coding Manager and emphasizes efficient coding, adherence to compliance, confidentiality of PHI, and ongoing skills development through team meetings and

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years’ coding work experience with ICD coding systems.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology and health record content.
  • Experience with behavioral health payer requirements is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Abstracts relevant clinical information from health records.
  • Assigns ICD codes to principal and secondary diagnoses.
  • Assigns ICD-10-PCS codes and sequencing for DRG reimbursement.
  • Identifies and codes procedures per Coding Guidelines.
  • Ensures compliance with Clinical Coding Initiative (CCI) edits.
  • Maintains PHI confidentiality and adheres to privacy requirements.

iMedX, a Rapid Care Group company, has an opportunity for you to join a winning team! We have an immediate opening for a remote, part-time employee position. The Behavioral Health Medical Coder is responsible for accurate coding of inpatient psychiatric and PCS coding. Experience with My Avatar (NetSmart) and managed behavioral health payers is highly preferred.

Purpose
The Medical Coding Specialist abstracts clinical information from health records and assigns accurate and complete codes in accordance with Official Coding Guidelines and iMedX standards as appropriate.

Organizational Structure:The Medical Coding Specialist reports to the Coding Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Abstracts relevant clinical information from the health records.
  2. Identifies the principal and secondary diagnoses based on the Coding Guidelines.
  3. Assigns ICD codes to the principal and secondary diagnoses.
  4. Identifies procedures based on Coding Guidelines.
  5. Assigns ICD codes.
  6. Assign principal diagnoses for DRG reimbursement.
  7. Assigns correct principal and secondary ICD-10-PCS codes with attention to accurate sequencing.
  8. Complies with the Clinical Coding Initiative (CCI) edits when assigning codes.
  9. Meets or exceeds the iMedX coding quality standards.
  10. Understands and adheres to all requirements related to coding compliance.
  11. Performs coding in an efficient and productive manner utilizing good time management and professional work habits. Meets productivity standards for position.
  12. Refers coding questions to the Coding Manager in a timely manner for feedback and coding guideline development.
  13. Continually enhances coding skills. Participates in team meetings and educational conferences to ensure coding practice remains current.
  14. Maintains confidentiality and safeguards the privacy of protected health information (PHI).
  15. Promotes the Company’s values.
  16. Performs other job-related duties as may be assigned or required.
Education:High school diploma or GED equivalent. Completion of a formal coding program. Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or other AHIMA or AAPC approved coding credential preferred.

Experience:Minimum of three years’ coding work experience encompassing a working knowledge of the ICD coding systems; medical terminology; anatomy and physiology; and health record content.Exhibits a sense of urgency towards work, possesses intermediate level computer skills, attention to detail, excellent customer service and written and verbal communication skills.
