Job summary

iMedX is seeking a Behavioral Health Medical Coder to join our team remotely on a part-time basis. The role focuses on accurate inpatient psychiatric and PCS coding, with preference for experience using My Avatar (NetSmart) and familiarity with managed behavioral health payers.

The coder abstracts data from health records, determines principal/secondary diagnoses, and assigns ICD-10-CM and PCS codes in alignment with Official Coding Guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of coding experience with ICD-10-CM/PCS.
• Working knowledge of ICD coding systems, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
• Understanding of health records content and coding guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Abstracts relevant clinical information from health records.
• Identifies principal and secondary diagnoses and assigns ICD codes.
• Assigns ICD-10-PCS codes with correct sequencing and DRG logic.
• Ensures compliance with Coding Guidelines and iMedX standards.
• Maintains PHI confidentiality and participates in team education.
