Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and completion of a formal coding program.
• Minimum of three years’ coding experience with ICD coding systems and health records content.

Responsibilities

• Abstracts relevant clinical information from health records.
• Assigns ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Identifies principal diagnoses for DRG reimbursement and coding compliance.
• Maintains confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA requirements.
• Meets productivity standards and seeks guidance from Coding Manager as needed.
• Continually updates coding knowledge through meetings and educational sessions.
