Qualifications

• RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCA or AAPC credential required.
• Medical terminology required.
• 3M coding software preferred.
• One-year experience in acute care facility with proficiency in ICD-10CM, PCS and CPT coding required.
• ED coding experience.
• Typing speed of 30 WPM.
• Must pass Coding Test with an overall score of 80%.
• Strong attention to detail and timely communication.

Responsibilities

• Reviews medical records to ascertain all diagnoses and procedures.
• Codes are sequenced according to coding guidelines.
• Utilizes 3M coding software to assign proper codes.
• Assigns facility and professional E/M levels as applicable.
• Monitors and meets productivity standards.
• Contacts responsible physician when diagnosis is unclear.
• Maintains confidentiality and complies with hospital policies.
