Job summary

NeueHealth is seeking a Medical Coder (Certified Professional Coder) to translate medical records into insurers' codes for claims processing. You’ll verify chart accuracy, confirm procedures with staff, and submit forms to insurers.

Key duties include correct code sequencing, adherence to coding guidelines, and monthly reporting support. Candidates should hold a coding certificate and maintain credentials, with at least one year of coding experience.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Medical Coding Certificate; RHIT or CPC by AAPC or AHIMA license; meet state licensure requirements.
• Maintain coding certification and attends in-service training as required.
• 1 year of medical coding experience.
• Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong computer skills in data entry, coding, and knowledge of EMR software; Microsoft Office Suite.
• Accurate and precise attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• The main duty is assigning codes to medical procedures and diagnoses.
• Ensure codes are correctly sequenced per regulations.
• Comply with coding guidelines and policies.
• Review patients’ charts for verification and accuracy.
• Follow up and clarify information with staff.
• Collect information from physicians to prepare monthly reports.
• Implement procedures and evaluation methods for correct results.
• Review patient records prior to provider visits for chronic conditions documentation.
