Job summary

Highmark Health seeks a Medical Record Reviewer to perform detailed medical record reviews, assign ICD codes for diagnoses and procedures, and abstract data for statistical requests. You will enter coded information into the designated system to support hospital operations and cash flow.

The role requires 1 year of hospital coding, familiarity with medical terminology, and coding certifications (CCS or CIC). A High School diploma is required, with an Associate's degree preferred.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• At least 1 year hospital coding experience.
• Coding courses in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology completed.
• CCS or CIC certification required.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Strong data entry skills.
• Understanding of computer applications.
• Ability to work with health care team.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and interprets medical information to determine ICD codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Abstracts data elements and enters coded information into designated system.
• Manages unbilled coding reports to support cash flow.
• Keeps up-to-date with ICD guideline changes and training updates.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
