Job summary

Iredell Memorial Hospital Incorporated is seeking a skilled Coder/Abstractor to accurately code all diagnoses and procedures for proper billing using ICD-9-CM and CPT nomenclature. The role also includes monitoring unbilled accounts and processing related tasks in a fast-paced setting.

The ideal candidate will hold RHIT or CCS certification, have one year of medical records experience, and demonstrate strong computer and typing abilities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• RHIT or CCS certification. AHIMA accreditation.
• 1 year medical record related experience, coding required.
• Excellent computer and typing skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology. Anatomy and physiology.
• Ability to read handwriting, detail oriented, and work independently.
• Ability to handle stress; identify problems and implement improvements.
• Normal vision/hearing range; no color-blindness; good eye-hand coordination.

Responsibilities

• Code all diagnoses and procedures for billing using ICD-9-CM and CPT.
• Review records for medical necessity and query physicians when necessary.
• Monitor ER and outpatient unbilled reports to ensure timely coding.
• Monitor unbilled accounts and perform related computer tasks.
• Maintain access to patient health information as required.
