Job summary

The Richland Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Medical Coder/Analyst to join our Health Information Management team. This on-site role focuses on accurate coding to support patient care and billing processes.

Responsibilities include reviewing records, coding with ICD-10-CM/CPT-4, assigning DRGs, and coordinating with billing and clinical staff to ensure documentation quality and compliance. Experience with auditing, quality improvement, and adherence to coding guidelines is valued and supported by

Qualifications

• Technical diploma or associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Credentialing (CPC, CPH, RHIT) preferred or willing to obtain.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT-4 coding systems and basic coding guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Review and code medical records using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding systems.
• Sequence diagnoses and procedures and assign DRGs.
• Collaborate with billing and clinical teams to ensure coding accuracy.
• Monitor provider documentation and assist in quality improvement efforts.
• Stay current with regulatory guidelines and coding standards

Education

Technical diploma or associate degree

Bachelor’s degree preferred

CPC, CPH, RHIT credentialing preferred or willing to obtain
