Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified)

  • 100% REMOTE
  • At least 5 years of IP PCS Coding experience
  • CCS certificate is required.
  • Schedule: weekdays and weekends, full-time hours preferred.
  • Flexible hours: Can work at any time but must keep a steady schedule
  • System Experience: Cerner | Power Chart | 3M
  • Start Date: Immediately
  • To be considered for IP coding assignments, you will be required to complete and pass a coding assessment test.

Summary:

IP Coding Specialist demonstrates proficiency in coding all types of inpatient accounts.

Utilizes ICD-10-CM and PCS, HCPCS including CPT, and other coding references to ensure accurate coding.

Responsibilities:

  1. Examines the complete medical record to accurately determine diagnoses, procedures, and complications.
  2. Strives to obtain the optimal DRG assignments on each record coded with assistance of computer system.
  3. Maintains a steady productivity level, coding a minimum of 2 inpatient charts per hour.
  4. Holds accounts when more information is needed for accurate code/DRG assignment and contacts appropriate staff as needed.
  5. Regularly reviews coding literature, stays current on guidelines, and shares updates with colleagues.
  6. Completes all assignments conscientiously and reliably.
  7. Engages in continuing education.
  8. Works as part of a team to meet department and client goals.
  9. Performs all other duties or projects as assigned.
