What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Perform medical coding and auditing for various specialties, ensuring compliance with coding standards
- Maintain advanced knowledge of ICD-CM, PCS, HCPCS, and CPT coding systems
- Document and validate coding performance to meet specialty requirements
- Stay updated on reimbursement systems, including PPS, DRGs, APCs, and RBRVS
- Achieve a minimum passing score on the Medical Billing test administered by the employer
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum of five (5) years of medical coding and/or auditing experience in two or more specialties within the past 10 years, or three (3) years in a Military Treatment Facility (MTF)
- At least one (1) year of documented performance in the relevant specialty
- Advanced knowledge of coding systems and reimbursement methodologies
- Medical Coding Certifications: RHIT or RHIA may count toward certification requirements, but not both unless experience is also met
- Must achieve a minimum 80% passing score on the Medical Billing test

- Additional coding certifications beyond those listed may be considered on a case-by-case basis
