Qualifications

Job Description

Accountabilities:

• Review a variety of sources for ICD-9 codes and map them to the equivalent ICD-10 codes.
• Analyze a variety of business documents containing ICD codes and make recommendations for the correct ICD-10 map that reflects an understanding of Health Plan operations.
• Facilitate and actively participate in interactive sessions with the members of the ICD-10 team to define and refine ICD-9 to ICD-10 maps and discuss impacts.
• Contribute to the development of a process and approach to use for conducting the ICD-9 to ICD-10 mapping and code remediation.
• Review a variety of sources for ICD-9 codes and map to the equivalent ICD-10 codes.
• Analyze a variety of business documents containing ICD codes and make recommendations for the correct ICD-10 map that reflects an understanding of Health Plan operations.
• Facilitate and actively participate in interactive sessions with the client and members of the ICD-10 Solution team to define and refine ICD-9 to ICD-10 maps and discuss impacts.

Skills/Experience Required:

• Prior experience in an ICD-10 project related to outpatient and inpatient; knowledgeable and prior experience with CMS ICD-10 PCS and CM crosswalks.
• Extended clinical coding experience.
• Experience with ICD-10 CM and PCS.
• Health Plan Operations (e.g. Coding, Claims, Medical Management) preferred.
• Experience with analysis and mapping from ICD-9 to ICD-10 for health plan.
• Experience articulating the use and impact of ICD codes to non-coding professionals.
• Conduct analysis of documents for ICD code usage and intent.
• Support ICD-10 solution development efforts by providing clinical coding and clinical perspective.
• Ability to quickly master new software tools.
• Basic word processing skills (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Review a variety of sources for ICD-9 codes and map to the equivalent ICD-10 codes.
• Analyze a variety of business documents containing ICD codes and make recommendations for the correct ICD-10 map that reflects an understanding of Health Plan operations.
• Facilitate and actively participate in interactive sessions with the client and members of the ICD-10 Solution team to define and refine ICD-9 to ICD-10 maps and discuss impacts.
