Spectrum Healthcare Resources is seeking a full-time Medical Coder at the Dumfries Ambulatory Care Center in Dumfries, VA. This outpatient role supports active‑duty service members, veterans, retirees, and families in a meaningful healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC certification required and must be maintained.
• Minimum of 1 year of related experience.
• Successful completion of a Medical Coding Course.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Review patient charts and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Assign and sequence medical codes in accordance with government regulations, insurance requirements, and applicable coding guidelines.
• Identify and clarify discrepancies or incomplete information with appropriate staff.
• Ensure compliance with medical coding policies, procedures, and standards.
• Compile physician‑provided information for monthly reporting.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Utilize computer systems for coding, data entry, word processing, and automated recordkeeping.
• Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and healthcare staff.
• Support accurate and efficient administrative and clinical operations.
