Job summary

BMCHS is seeking a Switchboard Operator in the Communications department. Schedule is 32 hours Tuesday–Friday, 3:00pm–11:00pm, with responsibilities including answering calls, paging, and managing telecommunication services for patients and staff.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of experience in a medical or business setting with heavy phone usage. Strong customer service and clear communication are essential.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephone calls, paging and other telecommunication services using Meridian and Xtend systems.
• Operate with minimal supervision and maintain professional communication.
• Provide superior customer service to internal/external clients and patients.
• Manage on-call schedules, beeper distribution and log telephone issues.
• Record and report telephone problems to Lead Technician.
• Handle Interpreter Services and TDD calls per procedures.
• Act as Security Dispatch and Patient Information during off-hours.
• Monitor alarms and respond per procedures.
