Qualifications

• Medical terminology knowledge required or preferred.
• Experience coordinating clinical workflows and patient communications.
• 2+ years as a medical assistant or clinical support role.
• High school diploma or GED required; CMA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle administrative tasks for the physician/provider.
• Serve as patient care liaison and care coordinator.
• Streamline patient-physician communications for satisfaction.
• Provide medical literature and prep instructions to patients.
• Assist patients with questions about procedures.
• Schedule procedures with physicians.
• Review physician schedules for efficiency.
• Schedule tests, procedures and follow-ups.
• Obtain necessary authorizations for procedures/tests.
• Call patients to confirm procedures a week in advance.
• Schedule follow-ups and recalls.
• Check-out patients and provide next steps.
• Request medical records from doctors/hospitals.
• Return patient calls promptly.
• Call-in prescriptions and obtain necessary authorizations.
• Obtain lab results including stat requests.
• Complete tasks in EMR system.
• Review open orders every three days.
• Contact patients with test results.
• Send forms to outpatient facilities.
• Other duties as assigned.
