Job description

Gen 5 Fertility is a world-class fertility center located in beautiful San Diego. Our team is looking for a full-time Medical Billing Specialist/Financial Coordinator, responsible for organizing patient insurance medical costs and sending invoices to collect payment from patients and their insurers. Their duties include checking insurance eligibility, full biling cycle have benefits verification, pre-determination and pre-authorization, calling patients to discuss payment and develop reasonable payment plans, entering patient data into administrative systems and recording information about outstanding claims.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as a liaison between insurers, medical offices, and patients
• Communicate with patients for their billing questions and issues happen.
• Responsible to handle all billing and collections activity, including claims submission, follow-up and appeals
• Perform posting charges,
• Perform completion of claims to payers
• Plan and direct patient insurance documentation, workload coding, billing and collections, and data processing to ensure accurate billing and efficient account collection.
• Track and collect payments, including setting up payment plans for outstanding bills
• Prepare and submit billing data and medical claims to insurance companies.
• Ensure the patient’s medical information is accurate and up to date.
• Prepare bills and invoices, and document amounts due to medical procedures and services.
• Contact insurance companies to check on status of claims payments and denials, write appeal letters for claims when necessary.
• Develop and maintain relationships with payers and other stakeholders to facilitate timely and accurate payments
• Collect and review referrals and Monitor and record late payments.
• Resolve denial instances
• Follow-up on missed payments and resolve financial discrepancies.
• Examine patient bills for accuracy and request any missing information.
• Investigate and appeal denied claims.
• Help patients develop patient payment plans.
• Maintain billing software by updating rate change, cash spreadsheets, and current collection reports

Qualifications:

• Experience in Infertility/IVF center financial / insurance experiences is a big plus
• Bachelor’s degree in business, health care administration, accounting or relevant field.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a medical biller or similar role.
• Certification from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) is preferred.
• Knowledge of codes like CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS is must
• High proficiency in insurance eligibility and benefits verification, pre-determination, pre-authorization
• Solid understanding of billing software and electronic medical records.
• Must have the ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Outstanding problem-solving and organizational abilities.
