Job summary

People Incorporated Mental Health Services is seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to join the Billing department in Eagan, MN. This full-time, hybrid role handles timely billing, accounts receivable collections, and customer service according to department policy.

Reporting to the Billing Manager, you will interact with program and finance staff. Preferred: AA in business/accounting, MN-ITS/PMAP experience, and prior medical billing in non-profit settings.

Qualifications

• Two years prior billing and reconciliation experience.
• Knowledge of MN-ITS and PMAP/Commercial payers (preferred).
• Experience with medical billing for mental health programs (preferred).
• Experience in a not-for-profit work environment (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain billing files to ensure timely invoicing for individuals, insurers, and state/county offices.
• Perform collections actions including follow-up on past due receivables and resubmitting claims to payers.
• Review program charges for timely, accurate charge capture with program/middle office collaboration.
• Maintain all documentation of actions and provide status updates per policies.

People Incorporated Mental Health Services is seeking aMedical Billing Specialistto join our Billing department. This position isResponsible for timely billing, resolving accounts receivable and customer service per department procedure and policy. This position reports to the Billing Manager and will interact on a regular basis with program and finance staff.

Schedule:Full-Time 1.0FTE, Monday-Friday, regular business hours, hybrid role.

Location: Ames Impact Center:3000 Ames Crossing Rd, Suite 600, Eagan, MN 55121

Hiring Range:$24.29- $25.87/Hourly, plus $1,000 hiring bonus for external applicants.

Main Job Duties:

• Responsible for creating and maintaining billing files so invoices are created timely for individuals, insurance companies, state, and county office.
• Perform various collection actions which include follow up on past due receivables, resubmit claims to third party payers, send written communication or other electronic outreach.
• Work with program and/or middle office to review program charges via various resources including at times clinical documentation to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant charge capture.
• Maintain all internal and external documentation of action taken and provide status updates in accordance with organization policies and procedures.
• Answer incoming calls to the billing line
• As directed by the Billing Manager, participate in audit preparation and responding to questions as needed.
• Attendance is an essential function of this position.
• Performing all other duties as assigned.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications:

• High School degree or equivalent
• Two years prior billing and reconciliation experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associates of Arts degree in business or accounting
• Knowledge of financial reporting and medical coding
• One year experience utilizing MN-ITS and PMAP/Commercial payers
• Prior medical billing and reconciliation experience for various mental health programs
• Prior medical billing experience within a not-for-profit work environment
