Responsibilities include posting payments, reconciling ERAs/EFTs, addressing denials, and maintaining accurate patient accounts in the EMR/billing systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 6–12 months of medical billing, payment posting, accounts receivable, or insurance follow-up experience preferred.
• Experience posting insurance and patient payments.

Responsibilities

• Accurately post insurance and patient payments into the practice management system.
• Upload and reconcile ERAs and EFTs.
• Process auto-posted and manual payments with high accuracy.
• Balance daily payment batches and assist with deposits and reconciliation.
• Review AR aging and follow up on unpaid/underpaid claims.
• Research and resolve claim denials, rejections, and billing errors.
• Contact insurance to verify status, eligibility, and coverage.
• Submit corrected claims, appeals, and supporting docs as needed.
• Process patient refunds, returned payments, and account adjustments.
• Assist patients with billing questions and payment plans.
• Determine patient financial responsibility based on benefits.
• Monitor accounts for timely reimbursement and resolution.
• Maintain EMR/billing documentation and generate revenue reports.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.
• Collaborate with providers and billing staff to resolve issues.
