Job summary

The role emphasizes follow-up on denials, appeals, and patient billing questions, with a Monday–Friday, in-person schedule. Minimum two years in a medical office setting and NextGen experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years experience in a medical office setting; billing and collections preferred.
• NextGen experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review patient records to ensure accurate billing and coding (ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS).
• Submit claims to insurance carriers via electronic or paper formats per coding guidelines.
• Follow up on unpaid claims, research denials, and file appeals with insurance companies.
• Communicate problem accounts to the Accounts Receivable Supervisor and collaborate on resolutions.
• Answer patient billing questions and establish payment plans when appropriate.
• Provide backup support for other department staff as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

We are looking for a highly proficient Medical Biller/Coder to join a fantastic team in Tulsa, OK. The insurance biller plays a vital role in supporting our revenue cycle by ensuring timely and accurate billing, follow-up, and collection of insurance claims. This position works collaboratively with the Accounts Receivable Supervisor to review problem accounts, identify solutions, and help maintain the financial health of our organization while supporting the patients we serve.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of two (2) years experience in a medical office setting; billing and collections experience preferred.
• NextGen experience preferred.

Primary Responsibilities

• Review patient records to ensure accurate coding (ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS) and billing.
• Submit claims to insurance carriers via electronic or paper formats in accordance with coding guidelines.
• Follow up on unpaid claims, research denials, and file appeals with insurance companies.
• Communicate problem accounts to the Accounts Receivable Supervisor and collaborate on resolution strategies.
• Answer patient phone calls regarding billing and establish payment plans when appropriate and agreeable.

Secondary Responsibilities

• Provide backup support for other department staff as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
