Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System is seeking an Offsite Billing Coordinator to manage accounts receivable, charge entry, edits, and payment posting. The role involves verifying data, accurate code entry, handling denials and appeals in IDX, and ensuring timely claims payment.

The position requires 1 year of billing/claims experience (associates) or 2 years with a high school diploma, with familiarity in IDX and ICD/CPT coding. Strong attention to detail and regulatory awareness are essential.

Qualifications

• 1 year with Associates Degree, or 2 years with HS/GED, in billing or health claims with IDX familiarity.
• Experience in health claims processing and familiarity with ICD/CPT coding.

Responsibilities

• Verifies insurance and registration data for scheduled patient encounters and surgeries if applicable.
• Enters office charges with accurate data entry of codes; follows policies and procedures.
• Runs missing charges, edits, denials lists; posts denials timely in IDX.
• Posts all payments in IDX using approved methods.
• Performs specialty coding and edits; communicates updates to physicians and staff.
• Monitors daily AR via reports; re-submits claims and assists with appeals letters.
• Manages credit balance reporting to align with regulations.
• Meets with practice management to review AR and billing concerns regularly.
• May collect time of service payments and maintain daily transaction records.
• Maintains currency on third party payor requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.
