Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a Senior Billing Specialist to manage multiple components of the billing process, including Accounts Receivable, Charge Entry, Edits and Payment Posting. The role requires thorough knowledge of IDX billing and coding (ICD/CPT) to ensure timely and accurate payment of claims and collections.

The candidate will verify insurance data, enter charges, post payments, and handle appeals while mentoring junior staff and collaborating with leadership to resolve

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or high school diploma/GED required or equivalent experience.
• Training in computerized medical billing is expected.
• Experience with IDX billing systems is preferred and beneficial.
• Certification (CPC) preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Verifies insurance and registration data for scheduled encounters and reviews forms for accuracy.
• Enters charges with accurate data entry of codes and processes charges per policies.
• Posts all payments in IDX and handles denials, including appeals as needed.
• Mentors less experienced Billing staff and assists Management in training.
