Job summary

UCI Health is seeking an Authorization Specialist to obtain required authorizations following established guidelines. You will verify patient eligibility, obtain benefit information, and generate authorization letters.

You will respond to Member Services inquiries and resolve authorization issues, collaborating with a care-team approach. Responsibilities include supporting off-site physician practice authorizations, maintaining accurate medical terminology knowledge, and utilizing MS Office

Qualifications

• Experience with computer registration and registration scheduling system.
• General understanding of medical terminology.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Customer service skills appropriate to the job.
• Must be able to travel to off-site physician practices.
• Minimum one year recent experience registering patients in a hospital or clinic (Medical Assistant or medical billing).
• Knowledge of ICD9 and CPT codes.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Obtain all necessary authorizations per established guidelines.
• Verify eligibility and obtain benefit information, generate authorization letters.
• Respond to Member Services and Call Center inquiries and resolve authorization issues.
• Utilize a team-based approach to delivering patient care services.
