Job summary

UCI Health is seeking an Authorization Specialist to ensure timely medical authorizations. The role involves verifying patient eligibility, gathering benefit information, and generating authorization letters to support care delivery.

The incumbent will respond to inquiries from Member Services and Call Center, resolve authorization issues, and travel to off-site physician practices as needed. Strong English communication and knowledge of medical terminology are required.

Qualifications

• 1 year recent experience registering patients in a hospital or clinic (within past 2 years).
• General knowledge of ICD9 and CPT codes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Obtain all necessary authorizations per established guidelines.
• Verify eligibility and obtain benefit information; generate authorization letters.
• Respond to Member Services and Call Center inquiries and resolve authorization issues.
