Job summary

Pulmonary Associates of Richmond is seeking an Authorization Specialist to perform all aspects of authorizing Biologic department procedures and other medical billing tasks for the practice.

This full-time role in Richmond, VA involves Revenue Cycle processes, authorization processing, applying payer policies, and following up on claim statuses while supporting the Billing Director as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One year of medical billing office experience or one year of customer service experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM.
• Knowledge of a medical authorization life cycle.
• Knowledge of EMR documentation.
• Knowledge of effective claim follow up.
• Computer skills in a Windows environment.
• Experience with Allscripts PM and EMR.
• Ability to use office equipment (multi-line phone, copier, fax).

Responsibilities

• Revenue Cycle Process.
• Authorization Processing.
• Apply Private Payer Policies.
• Apply Government Payer Policies.
• Follow up on Claim Statuses.
• Resolve Claim Denials.
• Daily Analysis and Resolution of outstanding insurance accounts receivable.
• Assist Billing Director with daily workload as time permits.
• Cross trained to improve the revenue cycle.
