Job summary

Pulmonary Associates of Richmond is seeking a full-time Authorization Specialist to handle all aspects of medical billing authorization for our Biologic department and related claims. The role requires knowledge of CPT/ICD-10-CM, payer policies, and EMR systems.

Attention to detail and customer service are essential to maintain our high standards of patient care and revenue cycle performance. The position offers on-site work in Richmond, VA with benefits including health insurance and a 401(k).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of medical billing office experience preferred.
• Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM and HCPCS Level II coding.
• Familiarity with medical authorization life cycle.
• Experience with EMR documentation and Windows software.
• Proficient in Allscripts PM and general office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee revenue cycle processes and authorization processing.
• Apply private payer and government payer policies.
• Follow up on claim statuses and resolve denials.
• Daily analysis and resolution of outstanding accounts receivable.
• Maintain CPT/ICD-10-CM coding accuracy and documentation.
• Respond to insurance representatives and manage daily workload.
• Assist Billing Director with tasks and cross-train as needed.

Pay: $18.50-$22.00 an hour based on experience

The Position:

PAR is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic full-time Authorization Specialist to perform all aspects of authorizing Biologic department procedure, and other tasks related to medical billing claims for the practice.

Job Responsibilities for the Authorization Specialist

• Revenue Cycle Process.
• Authorization Processing.
• Apply Private Payer Policies.
• Apply Government Payer Policies.
• Follow up on Claim Statuses.
• Resolve Claim Denials.
• Daily Analysis and Resolution of outstanding insurance accounts receivable.
• Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II Coding Guidelines
• Complete daily tasks: responding to insurance representatives.
• Assist Billing Director with daily workload as time permits.
• Perform other duties as assigned by provider, supervisor, or member of Administration – for example, cross trained to improve the revenue cycle.

Qualifications for the Authorization Specialist

High School Diploma or equivalent. One year of medical billing office experience in medical practice or one year of customer service experience is preferred.

• Knowledge of effective claim follow up.
• Computer software skills in a Windows environment
