Job summary

Pulmonary Associates of Richmond (PAR) is hiring a full-time Authorization Specialist to handle authorization for Biologic procedures and related medical billing tasks. This role requires accuracy in CPT/ICD-10-CM coding, EMR familiarity, and strong follow-up on insurance claims.

The position supports the Billing Director and contributes to a smooth revenue cycle. We value reliable team members with experience in medical billing and a patient-focused approach.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One year of medical billing office experience or one year of customer service experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM.
• Knowledge of a medical authorization life cycle.
• Knowledge of EMR documentation.
• Knowledge of effective claim follow up.
• Computer software skills in a Windows environment.
• Skill in using Allscripts PM and EMR.

Responsibilities

• Revenue Cycle Process.
• Authorization Processing.
• Apply Private Payer Policies.
• Apply Government Payer Policies.
• Follow up on Claim Statuses.
• Resolve Claim Denials.
• Submit Appeals.
• Daily Analysis and Resolution of outstanding insurance accounts receivable.
• Complete daily tasks: responding to insurance representatives.
• Assist Billing Director with daily workload as time permits.
• Perform other duties as assigned by provider, supervisor, or member of Administration – for example, cross trained to improve the revenue cycle.
