Job summary

UAB Medicine in Alabama is seeking a Medical Assistant to assist with examination and treatment under physician direction in the Outpatient department. The role involves patient interviews, recording vital signs, preparing treatment rooms, and basic clerical duties. Active BLS certification required within 30 days; Medical Assistant preferred.

High School diploma or equivalent or 1 year of relevant experience; licensure can substitute. This position is based at UAB St.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association OR American Red Cross accepted.
• Medical Assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
• Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on patients' charts. Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients.
• Perform basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
• Perform basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.

• Assist with treatments ordered by physician as supervised by physician or registered nurse. Perform select clinical duties.
• Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on patients' charts. Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients.
• Perform basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
• Perform basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:
