Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking an administrative professional to support a clinical area with essential clerical duties, patient interaction, and coordination of schedules. You will greet patients, route calls, manage files, and assist with chart assembly and timekeeping tasks.

Ideal candidates have a high school equivalency or related experience, with additional on-site responsibilities and collaboration with healthcare teams.

Qualifications

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience is required.

Job Description

Perform administrative and clerical duties in support of an assigned clinical area.

• Greet patients and visitors, answer/screen/route telephone calls, files, distribute mail and performs other general clerical duties.
• Communicate with patients, families, physicians and other healthcare team members about patient care according to protocol. Schedule patients for individual appointment and in a timely manner.
• Provide assistance with programs/software for Physicians/Clinicians through the order entry processes, transfers and discharges. Assemble and maintain patient charts.
• Coordinate meetings/schedules meetings/rooms with the appropriate person, send notices as requested. Maintain meeting minutes. Enter and maintain timekeeping changes and staff schedules in computer systems.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Minimum Requirements:

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
